Arise Mike Bonsier MBE

Old Boy Mike Bonsier, Chairman of Coulsdon Sixth Form board of governors, who is also president of the Old Purleians Association, chairman of Theatre Workshop Coulsdon and chairman of charity Ben’s Educational Trust has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List

Michael Bonsier from Caterham, who has been appointed MBE for services to education, chairs the board of governors at Coulsdon College.

Mr Bonsier has steered the college since its foundation in 1988, having served in a similar role at the college's predecessor, Purley High School for Boys, since 1971.

A civil engineer by profession, Mr Bonsier also helped drive the recent £40-million refurbishment of the college.

Reflecting on 40 years as a governor, the 71-year-old said: "It has not felt like very hard work, which is one of the reasons why 40 years have passed so quickly.

"The college has always been supported by a very strong governing body with a wide variety of skills."

Here we see Mike Bonsier in 1982 on the Pavvy steps along with Headmaster Derek Akers and A.N Other. Seen also at the 2007 Reunion.

Congrats to Mike from all.
