A note from former teacher, John Shirley

John Shirley has written -
"A story to tell you. Earlier this month I was 80. My wife had arranged for us to go out for a meal with a few friends. To my utter astonishment I finished up on the stage of the Playhouse theatre in front 120 people for an episode of This Is Your Life. When I went on stage I felt like a character in a Pinter play, not having a clue what was going on. Needless to say the audience found my confusion very amusing.
During the trawl through my life with loads of visuals and messages, reference was of course made to Purley. There was a message from Peter Shaw and Peter Wood recorded in London. I subsequently discovered that Peter Wood was in the audience as was Martin Smith. Then I was linked up on skype to David Coy in New Zealand. The whole experience was mind blowing. I was of course very touched that people had made such an effort to be there. So the Purley flag was flying high in Cheltenham.I thought you would like to know.
All good wishes to you for 2019,
John:
