Lunch with Richard Mant - History teacher

A number of us met for a session of common reminiscences over a 5 hour lunch. Richard is now 80 and very active and fit.

Click and you You can hear and see him here

Below is one of his scans from the Norfolk Broads visit in 1971.   Paul Thomas on the left, Tim Edwards in the middle and a hidden Graham Tong in orange.

Richard writes - "  I hope it will bring back happy memories for all concerned and hopefully cause some of our old friends to respond.  It would be good to hear from them. They may like to know that next year I notch up 50 years of sailing on the Broads.  I have never missed a season since Purley first started sailing there in April 1970. My old boat, Silver Washed, which I owned throughout the 1970s and will be remembered by a number of ‘Purley Boys’ still sails on under new ownership. The boat is now 111 years old and is still raced regularly on Wroxham Broad. Perhaps some who came with me on the Pennine Way might like to respond too.  It would be good to hear from them. I ran hike expeditions on the Pennine Way for Purley in 1971, 1972 and 1973.

I had no idea you were filming yesterday when I was holding forth about the Pennine Way. Probably just as well!

Best wishes,
