Peter Humphrey obviously used his time in a Chinese prison well.....by teaching English to his fellow inmates!

Rugby XV 1981

  • Doug Shaw :Robert Scarborough is in the front row, second in on the right. I think that may be Sean Francis next to him in the all yellow socks? Brough Slatter is in the back row, centre. I recognise several others but I can't put names to their faces.   
    Chris Twinam :Yeah, 81 - 83. That's Peter Norton second from right in the back row.

    Kim Springall :Martin Bruck thank you I remembered his first name but I think it was Bozley  Scott Barclay Martin Bruck I play along side Martin most weeks here at St Neots RUFC!  
    Kim Springall :Middle row left - sure that’s John Campbell  Top left - Ingmar Cummings ???  
    Steve Bruck : Martin Bazley was his name. Ingrate Cummings is a great call. Bottom left. Gareth Oliver  
    Neil Todd: Is that Alan Curtis top 2nd from left?  Simon Anderton bottom 3rd from left?  
    Rob Preston: Yes definitely 81-83. Recognised the faces but until I saw the names!!! Still was only 36 years ago

    Snowdon Hut 1978

    This was originally published on the 1970 Fas et Patria website which still exists. However, over the coming years this will be retired and the archives are going to be gradually moved to this website. Apologies if you have seen it before.
    Karen Pearson:I went to Keston and Taunton Manor with a few of these. The only name I can remember is David Parker in front of Graham Cox. 
    Wendy Easton Hi Karen I recognise the lad on the far left middle row Christopher Pratt.. back row, Andrew Patterson front row... where is Andrew Patterson these days? Just wondering if it’s Stephen Jelley middle row?? Probably wrong.
    Marty Denby Marty Denby Before my time. Definitely Mr Crosskey and Mr Moorhouse. Whatever happened to him? He was a good bugger. 
    Vic Davey Is that Mrs Ribeiro the french teacher in the middle?Karen Pearson Back row ( behind boy crossing his arms) Steven Ecclesy ? And the boy at the very front David Smith? 
    Debbie Hill Karen Pearson so is it Graham cox lol confusing now xx 
    Geoff Harmer Geoff Harmer Karen is right on the money with David smith and Steven eckersley ?

    Kelly was skipper but not sure if was 82 firstXI (poss was but not sure if Burke stayed on).
    NB -I have a school exercise book covering my sad career from 79/80 cricket and football....i can out-geek you big time ...it's mental as i look back at it now....!

    Paul Masters writes "I have a Nat West Rugby 7s photo.  Phil and I were there with, I think, Bob Spendlove and Dave Terry, and Paul Berry.  I had been thinking “speed around the field”  but then Chris Lehur is there too, I think."
